May 22 – June 1, 2017 we held our "Healing the Wounds of Ethnic Conflict" Workshop in Kiev, Ukraine
The main teachers were Dr Rhiannon Lloyd, a former medical doctor and psychiatrist from Wales, who founded the HWEC workshop, Pastor Joseph Nyamutera, director of Rabagirana Ministries, who lived through the heat of the genocide, and Pastor George de Vuyst, a missionary who has served over 20 years in Ukraine and graduate of the 2015 International School of Reconciliation in Kigali, Rwanda.
During these days, participants learned how to concuct a healing and reconciliation workshop themselves. The first part was geared toward personal change and people were very responsive. They left their pain at the cross and handed it over to God. Ethnic Russians and Ukrainian asked and received forgiveness from one another. Westerners confessed and washed the feet of those who were hurt. We ended in a celebration of our diversity. Afterwards individuals were trained who registered showing interest in forming teams or want work as individuals to carry out the message of Peace.
For this conference and workshop PRN brought the experience of our partners from other contexts to the capitol of Ukraine, Kiev.
